Fuji and<br \/>\n<\/em><em>As my legs trembled<br \/>\n<\/em><em>On its peak<br \/>\n<\/em><em>Awoke<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This poem by Masaoka Shiki (1867-1902), one of the founding fathers of Japanese haiku poetry, tells of the blissful moment of spiritual awakening at the summit of Mount Fuji. Japan\u2019s highest mountain is actually a volcano and has been officially inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2013 for its importance as a \u00bbsacred place and source of artistic inspiration\u00ab. Not only the perfect symmetry of the volcano, but also the mysticism that has surrounded it for many centuries has fascinated people all around the world, making it an icon of Japan. The famous sunrise, seen from the peak of Mount Fuji, has been the subject of countless pieces of art, and the Japanese language even has a word for this magical event: \u00bbGoraiko\u00ab \u2013 literally translated as \u00bbthe coming of the light\u00ab.<\/p>\n<p>Before we get lost on a detour of musings about this mystical volcano\u2019s magic, let\u2019s get back to the matter at hand: <a href=\"https:\/\/edwin.co.jp\/shop\/pages\/company_history.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Edwin<\/a>, Japanese pioneer of the denim world and inventor of the stone wash technique, has not only made denim big in Japan, but has also helped to make Japanese denim the most sought-after and high-quality denim fabric of all time.
