Recap: Carhartt WIP x HHV x Robert Winter

»Passing me by – Detroit«

On July 5th 2018 we had Detroit in the house, giving us a glance at this city – through the lense of photographer Robert Winter. Not only did we present an exhibition of his photographs, we also provided Amercian style hot dogs, bagels and drinks, of course.

Inspired by the magazine and the wonderful images, we have teamed up with Carhartt WIP for a limited mini capsule collection including T-shirts and longsleeves. The collection was released exclusively in the HHV Store during the vernissage.

Detroit as a city has gone through a lot and has been in the centre of controversy time after time. But this big city in the southeast of the US state of Michigan is, however, much more than just a place marked by the collapse of the automotive industry. Detroit is full of people, who love this city, welcoming guests as heartily as one can imagine.

German photographer Robert Winter felt this warmth himself, when he came to Detroit in 2017, commissioned to shoot the cover for Illa J’s news album »Home«. Turns out he enjoyed Detroit so much that he went back the following summer to explore the city thoroughly and find the essence of it. The result is an 84 page magazine that goes by the wonderful »Passing me by – Detroit«.
