HHV Out Of Office: Garmisch-Partenkirchen
Words: Calum Andrews
After heading north to Rügen, east to Swiss Saxony and west to Härz it was about time we took the train south to Bavaria. After a quick 4-hour train to Munich central station, we hopped onto the regional train to our final destination; Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
Originally two separate smaller towns, Garmisch & Partenkirchen, were brought together in 1935 to form the town as we know it today. Nestled into the foothills of the surrounding German mountains it only takes a clear day to see the peak of the Zugspitze (highest point in Germany).
On Day 1 of our trip, the weather was truly on our side as we met early to take the Garmisch-Classic gondola to the peak of the Zugspitze.

Day 2 started before sunrise; when we got to our morning coffee location, we were met by two horses just before the sun breached the eastern hills.

Our remaining time was filled with exploring the town and smaller peaks, including Wank where the gondola wasn’t quite up to scale as the previously mentioned Garmisch-Classic, this meant it was a tight squeeze.

Brands involved; Arc’teryx, Goldwin, Oakley, Danner, Helinox, Satisfy & and Wander.

Thank you to the team in Garmisch-Partenkirchen that made this all possible.
