Carhartt WIP is back at it again with a new episode of the RELEVANT PARTIES podcast series, this time featuring a conversation with Adrian Sherwood, UK’s legendary dub music redord producer and founder of labels such as Green Tea, Pressure Sounds and On-U Sound. Sherwood tells host Chal Ravens his story of how a reggae-fanatic teenager went on to become one of the most influential figures within the world of dub, experimental, Raggae, post-Punk, electronica and Hip Hop.
As a porducer, Sherwood has worked with luminaries including Vivian Goldman, Creation Rebel, Cabaret Voltaire, and Lee “Scratch” Perry, his remix credits include work for the likes of Afrika Bambaataa, Primal Scream, Depeche Mode, Blur, Air and Einstürzende Neubauten. Under the philosophy »Distubring the comfortbale – Comforting the disturbed«, On-U Sound was founded in 1981 and is globally recognized for a unique vision and influential artists such as Lee »Scratch« Perry, Tackhead, African Head Charge, Dub Syndicate, New Age Steppers, Singers & Players and Bim Sherman. Sherwood’s recent projects include collaborations with contemporary artists from a wide styistic spectrum such as Roots Manuva, the Japanese trio Nisennenmondai and The Near Jazz Experience from the UK.
