Carhartt WIP – Atelier Visit
A Day in the Life of Artist Jonas Koch
HHV and Carhartt WIP visited the colorful studio of Berlin artist Jonas Koch. His paintings are full of playful and bright shapes that bring thoughts and feelings to life in a unique way.
Jonas creates his art in layers, making each painting complex yet still fun and engaging. The paintings look cheerful, but they also make you think about deeper topics. This is his way of using art to explore serious ideas in a light-hearted manner.
He’s trying to find new ways to show movement and energy in his art, which sometimes means you have to think about the titles of his paintings to really understand them. Jonas likes to play with ideas of human mistakes and self-examination, using his abstract style to suggest ideas without spelling them out.
In his work, typical images are almost gone, replaced by shapes and forms that seem to come straight from the mind.
