Reception x JBS
Fashion’s most beautiful travel guide for unforgettable memories
Words: Caiza Andresen
I am very fond of good memories. Travels, people, tastes – shared experiences. That’s what’s up.
There are few things I enjoy more in life than being in company of friends while sharing a meal or a drink. I think everybody has felt the energy when friends gather at a restaurant or bar and just forget about time. Those evenings you don’t want to end, you know? Unfortunately like all good things they have to end.
Reception seems to share my sentiment and that’s why I instantly fell in love with this brand from France when I first saw their shirts and longsleeves (they soon after expanded to a cut and sew collection as well) screen-printed with the names and images of restaurants from all over the world on it. I wondered if those places where for real and soon found out that this was Reception‘s founder‘s Pierre Boiselle way to preserve and honor memories he created on his travels all over the world. He himself says it: »Reception is a brand built on the combination of people, time and places«.
Places like Bistro Senior in Lyon, Restaurante da Japonesa in Porto Seguro and Trench Pen in Kingston are only a few spots that Pierre visited and had to tell the world about. Reception is built on memories of late evenings with friends. Everybody knows the energy of those magic nights. And of course everybody loves this energy.
»It’s not a brand and you’re not a customer, we’re all guests and the table is long enough to welcome all of us«. That’s the first information you get about Reception when you visit their Instagram. That’s what they are all about. Food and tastes in general are a universal language – something that everybody understands. It does not matter if you understand the language spoken in the restaurant you visit on your travels. You will understand and enjoy the taste and the sharing of this experience.
You can easily see this brand as fashion’s most beautiful travel guide to future feasts and having a good time. This season Boiselle is giving us the advice to visit Tokyo, better said the JBS in Shibuya, Tokyo.
But what does JBS stand for? »Jazz, Blues & Soul« is the name of this unique bar that houses over 10,000 records curated by the owner Kobayashi-San. Opened 18 years ago, the aforementioned watering place serves locals and lovers of music and beverages 24/7. Tea and coffee at daytime, spirits and beers from dusk til dawn with a soundtrack of old vinyl. JBS is a whole vibe.
Now Reception, JBS and Tokyo-based artist Mayumi Yamase teamed up to give us a whole collection dedicated to this Tokyo landmark. Consisting of a classy white bowling shirt brocated with painterly prints of a baby-blue slipmat, pants with the same graphics but in a vice versa colorway, t-shirts in a blush color palette, minimalistic caps, a tote and of course a slipmat to embellish your record player. A collection created like a chef‘s menu: something for everyone.
Reception’s taste in fashion is just as good as their taste in food, beverages and music. The JBS collection is proof for that and I am sure that the pieces are best worn out at a nice restaurant or a bar sharing the table with old friends and soon to be friends.
So order your favorite item, travel, eat, drink and create some unforgettable memories to preserve.
