A Charles Mingus Tribute by Dexter
Charles Mingus was a force of nature in jazz. If you actually spend more than 5 minutes with the genre, you can not get past this exceptional artist and his incredibly extensive work and influence. Mingus is considered THE luminary on the jazz double bass, and as a bandleader and composer he has shaped modern jazz like few others.
In his honor, Australian brand Butter Goods is releasing a tribute collection this season, in collaboration with the artist’s estate and Jazz Workshop Inc. And this is how our paths cross in the HHV Journal as we’re taking a little dip into the world of Charles Mingus accompanied by the wise words of Gereon Klug and a tribute playlist curated by Dexter.
