Butter Goods x Lonnie Liston Smith
Togetherness through collaboration
Words: Anne-Marie Becker
Magic is bound to happen when music and fashion meet eye-to-eye. As the combination of these two disciplines is part of HHV’s DNA, we are particularly excited about the Butter Goods x Lonnie Liston Smith collaboration. The Australian label, which draws inspiration from skateboarding and youth culture, has teamed up with American jazz, funk and soul musician Lonnie Liston Smith to celebrate togetherness through collaboration.
The collection is paying homage to Lonnie Liston Smith’s impressive jazz career that stretched over five decades, during which he collaborated with jazz artists and legends such as Pharaoh Sanders, Roland Kirk and Miles Davis. The numerous albums that the musician has released over the years are considered classics in the genres of fusion, spiritual jazz and soul jazz. Throughout his musical career, Lonnie experimented with the medium of music, recognizing its magical and healing effects, and was able to expand his awareness of the moral values of humanity on planet Earth as a result.
The collaboration between Butter Goods and Lonnie Liston Smith Jr is aiming to bring people together and allow them to coexist in harmony. The collection features casual t-shirts and hoodies, as well as unique shirts, pants and jackets, all featuring iconic images and graphics of the artist. In the process, Butter Goods stays true to its signature brand identity, combining bold and playful graphics with relaxed silhouettes.
